Water Game #4 "Faits et gestes", 2016
Bastide du Jas de Bouffan, Aix - en- Provence

This fourth edition of WATERGAME was organized in the park of Bastide du Jas-de-Bouffan by the association Voyons Voir, Art Contemporain et Territoire, and the École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence. The guest artist of this 2016 edition was Pierre Malphettes who presented one of his work during the festival, along with a selection of works by young artists (Joël Bancroft-Richardson, Pierre Combelles, Lise Godard, Marko Kartalovski, Théo Jossien, Thomas Molles, Juliano Lacave, Fabien Lamarque, Emilie Rossi…).

The WATERGAME event transformed the park into a place of meetings around contemporary art. It became a playground, a place of experimentation for young artists who had the opportunity to go beyond the classic format of exhibition.

Being part on the selection, I showed two installations : Bad Bed and Black Column.

The black phallic column is an amorphous object which towers towards the blue sky. The wet dream comes to life with the other (Bad Bed) installation. In the middle of the bed lies is a hoop, holding the water and opening a bottomless gate through the glowing reflections. If the erotic appeal the two objects bring forward together is quite obvious when placed nearby, distance, as loneliness (i.e the exhibition of one single object), might also increase mutual attraction.
